SUMMARY:
The passage of hydrophilic substances through the very tight stratum corneum (sc) can be improved by the application of certain electrical impulses up to therapeutic relevant amounts. This allows new strategies for a needleless tissue therapy. Quantitative tissue analyis of concentration of active substances and morphological findings demonstrate the positive experiences in the application of such a technology.

Besides the indications in aesthetic medicine, the pain therapy with this method will become important in the future. There are clinical attempts for a lot of indications in the field of dermatological diseases. Further investigations up to transdermal lipolysis with an improved technique and new chemical formulations are necessary to open up the high potential of this technology for more efficiant medical treatments.
